Mercimek est une composition de field recording, réalisée à partir d’enregistrements que j’ai effectués lors d’un voyage à Istanbul, en 2003. Cette pièce rassemble une collection de sons typiques d’Istanbul, à la limite du cliché, mais reflétant cependant ma propre expérience sonore du lieu, les ravissements sonores dont j’ai fait l’expérience : l’appel des imams, le marché, le café, la rencontre avec les locaux… « Mercimek » signifie « Lentilles » en turc, un ingredient courant de la cuisine locale. Cela sonne aussi comme « Merci, mec » en réponse au « De rien » entendu tout au long de la pièce.
Cette pièce a été réalisée spécialement pour le premier épisode de Dream.Like.Sound (octobre 2014).
Mercimek is a field recording composition, made from material I recorded during a trip to Istanbul in 2003. The piece gather a collection of typical Istanbul sounds, surfing on the edge of the cliché, yet reflecting my own sonic experience of the place, the sound raptures I experienced : the imams call, the market, the café, the meeting with locals… « Mercimek » means « Lentils », a common ingredient in turkish cuisine. It also sounds like « Merci, mec » in french, (« Thanks, man »), in reply to the « De rien » (« You’re welcome »), heard throughout the piece.
This piece has been created specifically for Dream.Like.Sound’s first episode (October 2014).
